Wellington firm Darroch Forrest Lawyers has elevated two civil litigation experts to partner, according to the New Zealand Law Society.
Lauren Castle is a specialist in the areas of health and safety, employment and general civil litigation. She first became part of the firm in 2018, and currently heads up its employment team.
She has experience in various areas of insurance law, including statutory liability, general liability and professional indemnity insurance. She focuses on education and forestry sector claims and errant fiduciaries.
Prior to her tenure with Darroch Forrest, Castle had worked with a major New Zealand firm. She also served as a junior barrister in chambers.
Ben Sanders focuses on practicing in insurance law and civil litigation. He is a veteran in handling professional indemnity claims, general liability and insurance related to property and construction.
He is knowledgeable in a wide range of insurance policies, having also acted in coverage disputes involving trade credit, warranty and indemnity, political risk and kidnap and ransom.
Sanders has been involved in international arbitrations, and has overseas experience from a stint in London. He worked with global firm Mayer Brown International in its London office as an insurance law specialist for four years.
He has appeared before several courts, including the Supreme Court, in litigation proceedings. His clients include professionals, local body authorities and utility providers.
Sanders has served as NZ claims manager for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, and completed a secondment with Zurich Insurance as a response to the Canterbury earthquakes.
